In 1984, Robert "Dogfish" Martin moved to Florida, chasing the dream of fishing year-round. I soon became a regular at the Redington Long Pier, where friends nicknamed me "Dogfish Bob" — and it stuck.

That passion led me to open a tackle shop. In 1985, the Dogfish Tackle Company was born. By 1988, we had moved across from the pier in Redington Shores, where Dogfish Tackle built a reputation for top-quality gear and service. We even designed our own rod — the Dogfish Stik — still a favorite among local anglers.

As we grew, we needed more space. In 2005, we opened our Dogfish Tackle Superstore in Seminole, FL. Today, we offer the best selection of rods, reels, and gear on Florida’s west coast — serving everyone from first-time anglers to serious offshore pros.
